Painter Parquet  one-off pieces  2016

Hardboard panels were installed as temporary studio floors of 20 painters at the Royal College of Art in London.

While the painters created their works, the panels accumulated the residue of creative process, capturing the actions of the space between the artist and the work. After months of studio use, the panels were collected, photographed, and archived according to painter, time, duration, and location.

Individual panels were then selected, cut into hundreds of unique parquet tiles, and composed into one-off objects. Each outcome functions not only as an object but also as a place that records and transmits an expressive story.
